A note from BVC
Request through Child Services
We had our first request through Child Servi
ces. A mother asked for a bike for her 5 year old son. Using the budget that we voted on in our last meeting, we were able to fulfill this request. A bike and helmet for Christmas...can you imagine the surprise? Thanks to Mike at Elon Bike Shop for tweaking the bike to ensure that everything was in tip top shape. Thanks to Kevin and Hunter Walsh for delivering this gift.

It has been a pleasure being a part of the Executive Committee this year. While I felt that I over committed myself in the Fall with this role, work, and college...I enjoyed the time with the members on the bike in the Spring and regret not spending more time on the bike in the Fall. Not just for the physical fitness aspect but for the relationships that are created during those rides. I'm so grateful to those who kept the wheels turning and look forward to more riding next year.
In this second year, we started with a great committee with lots of ideas and completed several tasks. There is still a lot to learn about how to keep a club going and we have just begun. Here are a few of this years accomplishments:
- We were approved with 501(C)4 status.
- We had good meetings through the year with speakers at most of them and I want to extend my appreciation to all the members that participated.
- We partnered in the NC Road Race Championship which was successful.
- Our racers did well placing at the Ace Speedway Series and in some other local races.
- Our Youth Development Program was successful with five riders which was the set goal.
- We pulled together a clothing order and all items were delivered and issues were addressed.
- We had two kids clinics...not as successful as we would have liked but as long as we affected one family...one kid, we have to say that that is an accomplishment.
- We had fliers, business cards, and brochures printed....hope to use more next year.
- We had BVC decals made (you will see them soon).

Thanks to all of the officers that served with me this year. I appreciate your patience and understanding as I settled into the role. Now let's look forward...
